The mill is housed in six separate buildings and well protected by a modern fire and spark sensing system, as well as an elaborate sprinkler and water deluge system. The sprinkler system is gravity fed from a man made lake located at an elevation 92 meters (302 feet) in the hills above the mill.

Fiber supply is assured by the two Mactara saw mills located immediately across the highway from the pellet mill. Those saw mills are further supported by  3,770,000 hectares (9.3 million acres) of productive forest land in the Province of Nova Scotia.

The pellet mill is well served by the Provincial and Federal highway system and the port of Halifax.
